FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -- If you are in any kind of club this is the show for you! We all join local clubs or groups to do it our part for charity or to join groups that do things we like. But when you get a lot of women together who are used to being in charge, at some point there will be a battle for the presidency. This is the basis behind the comedy ‘Girls of the Garden Club.’ After years of Mrs. Lillybelle Lamont, local wealthy women and name dropper, being President of the Lucaya Ladies Horticultural Society and Garden Club a rebellion is started by Rhoda Greenleaf, a true horticulturist. Rhoda decides to lead a small group of her fellow club members in a strategy to help her become the President of the Garden Club. Rhoda though has an alternative purpose for her plan. She is not doing this to bring down the snobby Lillybelle, but as a determined wife bent on getting her husband to buy her a greenhouse. Poor Rhoda has a heck of a time getting her friends organized to launch her plan while trying to keep Lillybelle in the dark and her family to simply stay out of her way. The show is being produced by well-known duo Gloria McGlone and Ivy Elden who have teamed up once again for this very funny comedy. “We have been working as a team for 18 years now - this is the second time Gloria has me playing an old lady for her, I’m hoping it’s the last,” said Ivy Elden who is both producer and plays one of the leading roles as Mrs. Birdie Smithers. “It’s difficult to do both roles as you have change hats quite a bit - but I am very pleased to have our wonderful backstage crew helping us again – our star team.” The cast for this show is led by Vicki Stafford, who is back onstage after appearing in 2006’s “Steel Magnolias,” another Freeport Player’s Guild production. She is joined by well-known thespians Angela Hackman, Ivy Elden, Delores Kellman-Jones, Laura Smith-Donohue, and newcomers Jill Cooper, Sara Nicolson-Collier and Sophia Muller. This formidable cast is joined by 13 other ladies who unite during a regular meeting of the Garden Club and who show gossiping women at their best!
