SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF UNLICENSED FIREARM AND AMMUNITIONS

Two males, ages 33 and 38 and a 34 year old female of Freeport are in police custody after they were arrested at approximately 12:50am this morning, Wednesday 8th August, 2012 for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions.

Officers at the Mobile Patrol Unit were responding to a call of disturbance in the South Bahamia area when the suspects were arrested after the discovery of a pistol, a magazine and a quantity of ammunitions at the residence.

Investigations are continuing into this matter.

POLICE INVESTIGATING “CAUSING HARM” REPORTS

Officers at the Central Detective Unit here in Freeport are continuing their investigations into two “Causing Harm” reports this afternoon.

At approximately 9:33pm on Tuesday 7th August, 2012 the police were notified of a shooting incident in the Fawcett Lane area of Freeport. The victim, a 31 year old resident of Freeport was reportedly walking on Fawcett Lane when he was shot in the upper portion of the body.

The victim was transported to the Rand Memorial Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later discharged.

In the second report which was received by police at 9:46pm on Tuesday 7th August, 2012, a 21 year old male, a phone card vendor of Freeport, reported that he was standing on the corner of East Mall Drive and Pioneers was when he was approached by a gunman who shot him in the upper portion of his body before making good his escape.

The victim was taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital for medical attention and is listed in "stable‟ condition.

The police are asking the public for their assistance with information regarding any of these incidents by calling 350-3107/8, 352-9774/5 or 911.
