The Minister further stated that shortly after it was revealed that there were children on the vessel who attended public schools, guidance counsellors were sent to the respective to schools to provide counselling. Additionally, in the new school year, the Ministry will offer additional counselling if the need arises. The Minister noted that it is the mission of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to provide all persons living in The Bahamas with an opportunity to receive an education that will equip them with the necessary knowledge, skills, beliefs and attitudes required for work and life in a democratic society, guided by Christian values. The Honorable Jerome Fitzgerald, Minister of Education, Science and Technology extends condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic boating accident which occurred on Sunday, 10th June, 2012 in waters near Abaco. Minister Fitzgerald is particularly saddened by the loss of the young persons who were all students of public schools in The Bahamas.
