Mark your calendars and get ready to come out for a great variety of events all benefiting the animals at the HSGB shelter!  This Saturday, February 11th at 7 p.m. the place to be is the Canal House at Pelican Bay, for Meeting of Minds; a unique event featuring amazing art (some featuring a few of our shelter animals!), fashion, and music.  Tickets available at a variety of locations including the shelter and Bristol Cellars.

On Saturday, February 25th, don't miss A Night of Love starring the popular Apple Elliott Band at the Foster B. Pestaina Centre.  You'll be humming along and tapping your feet to their great variety of musical selections!  HSGB volunteers will be manning the bar and selling tickets for some great raffle prizes.

The HSGB is very grateful to the organizers of the above events, respectively, Ashley Baker and Sean Johnson; and the Apple Elliott Band, for remembering the homeless animals of Grand Bahama.

Tiara, now Cara, the Dobie girl, on her way to her new home in Jupiter, Florida. For a change of pace, clear your calendars for the HSGB's Annual Dog Show, to be held Saturday, March 3rd, at the shelter on Coral Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Get your pooches ready to strut their stuff and come out for a great day of family fun!

This year's dog show will also feature a White Elephant Tent; mom (and dad) can find some real bargains while the kids enjoy face painting, pony rides, hoopla and more.  Food and drinks will be available for sale, too!  Admission only $5 for adults and $1 for children 12 and under.

This past week, thanks again to two trips by our great friend pilot John Badham, a few more fortunate little souls found their way to new homes and rescues in the U.S.

Timid Doberman Tiara is now enjoying her new home in Jupiter, Florida, after having been found as a stray by HSGB months ago and treated for her heartworm disease.

Pomerian Champ, found in horrible condition in November as a stray, is now safe and sound with a rescue vet in South Florida.Pomerian Champ, also found in horrible condition in November as a stray, is now safe and sound with a rescue vet in South Florida who will treat his heartworm and find him a loving home.

A total of six puppies made their way to our friends a LuvAPet in WPB, including Celeste, a tiny potcake thrown out of a car window on Poinciana Drive last week and brought in by a concerned Good Samaritan who witnessed the incident.

We're also grateful to HSGB friend, volunteer and adopter Lynda Carlson of Jupiter, who works hard to network our animals and promote their cause.

Check it out at http://potcakes.homestead.com/index.html!  And feel free to pass it on.
