Whatever happened to basic service? Things such as smiling, eye contact and seeking out a customer's needs are almost foreign to so many that are supposedly "serving" the public. And we do not just mean public servants. Pizza delivery people, bank and utility company tellers, restaurant servers, gas station attendants--so many seem to lack the basic communication skills that actual service is hardly even expected any more.

Small groups shine at Junkanoo

Freeport can boast a truly unique Junkanoo experience. There has been a trend of great diversity of participants, a much closer, more experiential, opportunity for spectators, and a generally positive, festive spirit among all.

An excellent case study in these points is the newcomer to Freeport Junkanoo, Rotary International, made up of members and friends of the three Rotary clubs on Grand Bahama, the Rotary Club of Freeport, Rotary Club of Lucaya and Rotary Club of Grand Bahama Sunrise.
