“ARMED ROBBERY –GRAND BAHAMA”
On Friday 17th May 2013 around 4:40am, police received information that there was an armed robbery in the Hudson Estates area.
Officers responded and it was reported that a male who was described as slim in built, armed with a long knife entered a home and demanded cash. The suspect robbed the occupant of a Bahamian passport, before making good his escape.
Investigation into this matter is continuing.
Police are again appealing to the general public, anyone with information that can assist the police with their investigation into this matter are asked to contact the police at telephone numbers 350-3107/8, 911/919 or called your nearest police station. |

“PROCEEDS DERIVED FROM CRIMINAL CONDUCT –GRAND BAHAMA”
On Tuesday 14th May 2013 around 11:30am, Officers while on mobile patrol in the Balao and Midshipman Road area, observed a silver 2013 Hyundai Sonata travelling east along Midshipman Road with the driver of the vehicle acting suspicious.
Officers stopped and searched the vehicle and its occupant and discovered (3) three beer boxes containing (one million, ten thousand, nine hundred and eighty dollars) in American currency.
The money was confiscated and the male driver was arrested and taken into police custody.
Police are continuing the investigation into this matter. |

“HUMAN SKELETAL REMAINS DISCOVERED- GRAND BAHAMA”
On Wednesday 15th May 2013 around 10:00am police received information of the discovery of apparent human skeletal remains in bushes in the Heritage Subdivision area.
A team of officer from the Central Detective Unit and others were dispatched to the scene where they confirmed the discovery of the skeletal human remains.
Doctors and EMS personnel of the Rand Memorial Hospital also responded where the discovery was confirmed as that of human remains.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death and the identity of the remains.
The skeletal remain appears to have been at that location for an extended period of time. Police are appealing to members of the public for any information that can assist with the identity of the remains which may include any missing relatives who were missing for an extended period of time.
Police are actively investigating these matters.

FREEPORT, Grand Bahama -- On Monday, 13th May, 2013, around 6:10pm, Officers of the Marine Division while on sea patrol in the Bell Channel area, observed a yellow 20 ft Cobira vessel with two 200hp Yamaha outboard engine and two males on board, one Bahamian and the other an American who were acting suspicious.
Officers stopped the vessel and discovered that the vessel was not cleared by Customs or Immigration. A further check was made of a second vessel which led police to a hotel in the Victoria Avenue and Midshipment road area, where officers discovered (10) ten Brazilian nationals.
All persons and illegal immigrants were arrested and taken into police custody. The ten illegal immigrants were handed over to Bahamas Immigration Officials.
Police and Immigration authorities are continuing active investigation into this matter.
Safety Tip: The Royal Bahamas Police Force would like to remind you to be vigilant in the protection of your vehicle and any other items that maybe kept inside them. Criminals look for easy target; hence you are advised to avoid leaving valuables exposed in your vehicle. Motorists are reminded to conceal them preferably in the trunk of vehicles prior to arriving at your destination. If necessary hide them. If hiding them do so early before you get to your destination. Check your vehicle prior to exiting; ensure that no valuables are in plain view from the outside of the vehicle. |

TRAFFIC FATALITY – GRAND BAHAMA
On Thursday 9th May 2013 around 11:20pm, a traffic accident occurred on Queens Highway east of the Fishing Hole Road involving a silver 2007 Chevrolet Malibu. The vehicle was driven west along Queens Highway by a 27 year old male who lost control of his vehicle, overturned several times and landed in bushes off the west bound lane. The vehicle was extensively damaged. There were two other male passengers in the vehicle. The driver and one of the male passengers received injuries and were detained in the Rand Memorial Hospital. The other male passenger was treated and discharged.
On Sunday 12th May 2013 around 2:00pm, the 27 year old driver of the vehicle succumbed to his injuries.
POSSESSION OF DANGEROUS DRUGS –GRAND BAHAMA
On Saturday 11th May 2013 around 10:00pm, officers while on mobile patrol in the Settlers Way area arrested a 40 year old male for possession of a small quantity of suspected marijuana. The drugs were discovered on his person; he was then arrested and taken into police custody.
Police are actively investigating these matters. |

On Thursday 9th May 2013 around 11:00pm, police received information that there was a traffic accident in the Eight Mile Rock area.
Officers arrived on the scene and discovered the lifeless body of an adult male who was clad in a dark blue sweater and pants with apparent injuries to the body.
EMS personnel arrived at the scene, checked the body and reported no signs of life. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
Police are actively investigating this matter and are appealing to the general public for anyone with information that can assist the police with their investigation into this matter to contact the police at telephone numbers 350-3107/8, 911 or 919.

“ROBBERY REPORTED – GRAND BAHAMA”
On Monday 6th May 2013 around 7:05am, police received information of a robbery in the Garden Villas area.
Reports are that around 3:20am a female reported that while walking in the Garden Villas area she was held at bay by a lone male who held her from behind and attempted to rob her, she fought back at the assailant who was then assisted by another male and was robbed of a silver diamond ring valued at $1,200.00, a gray flip Samsung cellular phone valued at $50.00 and $100.00 dollars in cash.
“POSSESSION OF DANGEROUS DRUGS”
On Monday 6th May 2013 around 7:24pm, officers while in the Columbus Drive area searched a green Honda Accord vehicle and the driver and discovered a foil paper containing grassy substance suspected to be marijuana on his person.
A 27 year old male was arrested and taken into police custody.
