In responding to the comment about the ICDs [curbs], here are some "What If's":
What if there is an emergency and traffic is blocked preventing the ambulance, the fire truck or a police car from getting to a scene? How do you pull to the side if there is an ICD? Are we not required by law to do just that -- pull to the side?
What if a car has an unexpected tire blow out in the middle of traffic? Where can they pull over if there is an ICD? I have personally witnessed this and because of the ICDs that car had to run over them causing more damage.
I have no problem with keeping the island looking good with green grass but I have a BIG problem when keeping the island looking good TAKES PRECEDENCE OVER POSSIBLY SAVING A LIFE!
Why not put some of the money to make those ICDs into making sure all the residential areas have proper lighting? Why not ensure that every residential area has paved roads? After all, that too is a part of keeping the island looking good.
Think about it and enough with the ICDs and the round-abouts too!

Greetings!
At least twice in your newsletters I’ve seen Muddasicks complaining about the curbs being installed throughout Freeport City.
I’m tired of that misnomer. For the information of all those “whiners” those are not curbs. They are ICD’s.
ICD stands for Idiot Control Device. They are installed to control those idiots who callously drive over the grass as they are too lazy or too indifferent to wait for the next properly designated turnoff. That’s the only way the city’s lawns and medians will continue to look beautiful.
If the shoe fits you’ll have to wear it. Only idiots are offended by the curbs---ooops! I mean ICD’s. - H.A. |

Whilst I fully appreciate the need for security in these troubled times, the residents should really consider those other persons enjoying the beaches in their vicinity. Last weekend, my wife and i took a stroll out on the East End [Grand Bahama] beaches. Unfortunately, our stroll was rudely interrupted by three barking and snarling dogs who ran down the beach and, no doubt, would have bitten us or jumped up at us, if we had not taken evasive action by running into the water. So, the owners of the dogs (either the first or second house from the BaTelCo tower out east): PLEASE keep your dogs under control before an accident occurs! |

Well Muddasick,
On my way to work this morning I nearly hit this Jeep, twice! No brake lights so there was no warning when he might stop. As we passed Catholic High there was a police road block checking for vehicle liscences. As the Jeep went on his way and I was due to slow down for the officer, I put down my window and told the police officer that I had nearly hit the Jeep twice and he had no brake lights. He checked my registration, said okay, and "move on." That was it. When I didn't move straight away he said "move on"! What great concern, so glad we have road inspections.
I feel really safe now!

My Muddasick! is why don't Solomon's and Cost Right accept the Social Services Food Stamps? It's a government entity. If I normally shop at Cost Right or Solomon's why should I be excluded from shopping there because all I have is a Food Stamp? My second Muddasick! is that violence is sometimes an accumulation of emotions. If a child is being bullied, bothered and even threatened by another student and no significant intervention is made. I know of parents who had to go to the school to deal with their kids being slapped, punched and/or pushed by another student (in the primary school at that) and the student was sent to "sit in the office". Hence either the child is harmed worse (beat up, stabbed, etc.) by the student troubling the other or the student being troubled gets frustrated and fights back.

Good Morning,
After listening to Love 97 morning news, I just had to get this off my chest!!
Residents in Grand Bahama were being interviewed and were asked their opinion on the outcome of the decision that Mr Woodside would retain his seat after the recount on Monday.
One male resident responded: "I STILL THINK THAT MRS GIBSON WON"

Muddasick! It looks like our country is going to the dogs. We need somebody besides the [bar association] to police our attorneys. They rob and steal from the poor as lawyers then rip off our country as MP's because there's nobody in place to police them.
We need an online BLACKLIST for all those necktie crooks so we can expose them and so poor people can know the good ones from the bad ones before they even try to run for a seat in the House [of Assembly]. You just don't care about the well-being of the Bahamas. |

I know that I am most likely writing this to people who don't litter and do care about how our island looks. But I've just got to rant! Can these idiots please stop throwing garbage on the ground. Kentucky, Burger King, Wendy's you name it! I drive home and the roads look so great and then I turn the corner and there it is - Kentucky snack pack just trailed across the lovely grass! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Here's an idea you dumping dogs, keep the garbage in your car until you get home or hey near a garbage can.... then take it out of your car and put it in the trash. That's probably too difficult for these thick heads to get.
I can't believe that our lovely sanitation men clean our streets and then non caring, not thinking, idiots just chuck their garbage out because they know someone will pick it up.
Oh yeah, if there are any police out there reading this - there is a law that you can fine these litter bugs. There are signs on the road and the fine is not cheap. Think of the money you could collect. Do you need us to call and tell you license plate numbers? Let us know - I am sure I can catch someone!
So, hey - its 2008, save your planet and just put it in the bin! oh yeah, please! |

Muddasick! Can anyone answer my question: "Why did Fred Mitchell decide to come to Grand Bahama and pontificate on the current topic of out-of-control crime this week?
Is the answer to this question that he is only trying to start contention when the Prime Minister and Mr Turnquest are out of the country and not here to defend the Government's stance on this issue?
Yours, Puzzled |
