The "ready on day #1" PLP Government 'mussie' forget 'bout' Environmental Health! Dey een pick up da garbage in some areas since day #1! According to very reliable sources, calls have been coming in to The Department of Environmental Health from all over Nassau because of the grave neglect of the garbage collection in the east, west north and south! From Fox Hill to South Beach to Westridge. In some cases its been more than four weeks since the garbage has been collected! The Rodents are now moving in!
Can someone please ask the Minister of Environmental Health
The Hon. Kenred Dorsett, M.P., to cease the celebrations and
GET TO WORK!! |

So I sent my company Christmas cards to local addresses the second week of December (early)! And surprise, surprise they have not made it to their destinations yet. So now it will be a month for cards mailed in Freeport to get to another Freeport address.
Merry Christmas to you the GB Post Office - guess those extra government workers are really working hard? Hmmmm me thinks NOT!

Well it’s my birthday month, keeps on coming every year thank goodness but you know what comes with your birthday month … car inspection and licensing! So off I go, no really bad dings, lights, horn, brakes, wind shield wipers all working but wait, my tint’s too dark, I must take it off. Mr. Greenslade is cracking down on the tints they say!
Oh, I have had the same light tint for six years I say, never been told there is a thing wrong with it. Too bad, the man says, they’re cracking down.
Off I go thinking you know what, my tints aren’t that bad, I am going to ask for a second inspection at the main office. Nothing ventured, nothing gained so here I go.
"Sorry Miss, Mr. Rahming is out doing a walk-about but leave your number and he will call."
Off I go thinking I will do this right and write a letter requesting a second inspection and see what happens. So I did, sending a copy of the inspection rejection slip. Within an hour I received a call asking if I could please bring my car down at my convenience for a second inspection at Road Traffic. It was convenient right then so off I went.
Two officers accompanied me to my vehicle and requested I sit in the driver’s seat while photos were taken to decide if I was clearly visible, which I was. We walked back to the office and I was asked to please have a seat, they would be right back.

I travel home once a year to Nassau to see my family and enjoy for one week. Getting home is a quick journey from Fort Lauderdale, one hour to be exact.
But boy!I dread doing anything else with that airport. The first time I brought my American wife home to meet my family, that airport made our trip the worst trip ever.
Bahamasair overbooked our flight and wouldn’t let us on, despite the fact that we bought our tickets three months in advance. They stole just our food luggage and wouldn't compensate us for the loss.
And bey! When I spoke with management, I flipped out on him, because he was very disrespectful. He stated “that maybe I didn’t understand the culture or the Bahamian accent in what they were trying explain to me why they can’t seem to find my container full of food.” I stuffed my Bahamian passport in his face and gave him a lesson in total customer service. Just because I haven’t been home in six years, with an American accent, does not mean I don’t Know my own culture or vibes.

I write in reference to information I have just received about a new “killer” fishing vessel arriving in Freeport to operate in this area harvesting tuna. As I understand it, this boat will be using a very long net to capture tuna and haul aboard the mother ship. I am outraged to learn this for a number of reasons.
One, the tuna stocks in this area are poor at best. With this net system, a few good hauls and the tuna will only be a memory. Even more frightening is the amount of “other” fish and mammals that get caught in the nets and are killed. Sharks, turtles, dolphins etc.
There have been documentaries on TV recently about this same type of net fishing. Most of it is in the Pacific Ocean and much more deadly. It really saddens you when you see all the unwanted, already dead fish and mammals thrown back in the ocean with absolutely no regard for their existence. |

Muddasick! When are we going to stop being so dependent on tourism? When is the government going to see tourism is not working and start new and innovative ideas so that we can sustain ourselves as a people and nation? We have come along way and have even further avenues to venture/explore! It's like this government doesn't dream big or is it we or me the people? It seems as if the government thinks supporting ourselves as a people is not feasible! We lack technology, specialized education/ skill training just to name a few! When are we going to CHANGE for the better? -JS |

So I saw the article in the Freeport News about the Grand Bahama passport office supposedly getting their act together -- HAH! What a joke. The only REAL improvement at that place is a new location -- but give it time...even that won't stay looking so sweet for long. Since the big man Russell was sent there because he couldn't handle the demands of being a police officer, I haven't seen any improvement in service, and he is the reason from what I have seen. I had trouble getting the travel document I was PROMISED by the lady out front and my travel day was coming fast. So I called in asking to speak to Russell. I didn't expect to get to him right then but at least they took a message. Two days later, no response, so I called back. Left a message. No response. A day later, called back and asked if I could make an appointment to see him. I was told he wasn't taking appointments. I said that it didn't need to be today or tomorrow but sometime in the next week would be fine -- whenever was convenient for him. The young man on the phone then told me, "No sir, Mr Russell isn't taking ANY appointments." I was shocked! I asked if I heard correct: "You mean he isn't taking ANY appointments to see ANY body at ANY time for ANY reason?" "No, sir," came the response. No wonder no one in that place cares about being timely or delivering real customer service! I was always told: Speed of the leader = speed of the team. Well, with leadership like THAT, it's no wonder you can't get anything done there. Pathetic! - Not Impressed
