Since writing my story about the Up With People event last week, we have received quite a few comments from our readers and I've had many personal emails and comments when I've been out and about - all extremely positive. Yesterday I was pleased to learn that another student from Grand Bahama has been accepted to the Up With People program, Danielle Maingot, who will join the program in late 2012.
Danielle, who found out about Up With People while at her school, LIS, said she is very excited about this grand opportunity and told me how she found out about the group. "A small group of kids came to the school and had posters and flyers on a bench in the quad, " she noted.
"It was lunch so I went over and I spent the whole of lunch talking with them, (students) and it was pretty exciting, saw some photos, and I found out a couple of my friends were hosting some people. They told me all about the show, where they were going for this semester, where they all were from, and that they do interviews while they're here. So I scheduled an interview."
Danielle will graduate this year and due to her young age, she turns 18 next week , she will take a "gap year" to prepare for college. One can only imagine the fun this talented young lady will have next year. I would think that traveling with this large group would be a safe and fun way to see the world - have to say I'm a bit jealous.
