Freeport Players’ Guild’s Regency Singers are gearing up for a Spring concert aptly titled “African Footprints”. The concert traces the influence of African music on styles that are as diverse as folk, spirituals, ragtime, gospel and opera - with even a nod to Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus in the final selection. The Regency Singers, celebrating their 5th year anniversary, besides being the corner stone for the annual “Many Moods of Christmas” have continued to expand their repertoire and versatility, notably, in a stunning performance of the Christmas section of Handel’s “Messiah” in December. Known for precision, artistry, quality of tone and the incorporation of instrumental and percussion ensembles, The Regency Singers are a group in which Freeport should take great pride. This group of local singers stands shoulder to shoulder with the great choral groups of the world. The Spring Concert will take place at the Church of The Ascension on West Beach Drive, Sunday, April 13th at 7pm, with an admission price of $15.00.
