Grand Bahama Police investigating armed robbery report

On Thursday 2nd August, 2012, officers at the Central Detective Unit along with the Eight Mile Rock Division are continuing their investigations into the armed robbery of a service station in the Eight Mile Rock community last evening.

It was a just minutes after 7:00pm on Wednesday 1st August, 2012, when the police received a report and responded to the scene at a service station where a lone gunman had robbed the complainant of cash at approximately 6:47pm before making good his escape.

Police are appealing to persons who reside in the area and others who were passing the service station at the time of the incident to call 350-3107/8, 352-9774/5 or 911 with information to assist investigators in bringing closure to this matter.

POLICE FIRE SERVICES INVESTIGATING HOUSE FIRE

At 12:45pm today, Thursday 2nd August, 2012, officers from the Police Fire Services responded to a house fire report in the Hudson Estates area in Freeport.

Upon their arrival, the fire-fighters discovered that the fire was confined to a western bedroom at Unit #10 with five rooms in the single story multi-unit concrete structure (apartment complex).

The fire was extinguished by the officers, however, the western bedroom and contents were extensively damaged by fire and there were smoke, soot and water damages throughout the unit.

The occupants exit the apartment without injury, however, and the damages are estimated at $25,000.00.

The officers at the Police Fire Services are taking this opportunity to remind residents to avoid running extended electrical cords that are fray/damage under the carpet or near combustible materials.
