Police investigating armed robbery report

This morning, Friday 29th June, 2012, officers at the Central Detective Unit are continuing the investigations into an armed robbery report that occurred shortly after 9:30pm last night, Thursday 28th June, 2012.

According to the victim’s report, he was making a deposit at the Bank of The Bahamas in Bartlett Hill, Eight Mile Rock, when he was approached by a man armed with a shotgun who demanded cash before discharging the weapon. The culprit took the bag with the cash and made good his escape at the rear of the Food Store in the Harbor West Shopping Center.

The investigators are following some leads into this incident, however, we (the Police) are seeking the public’s assistance, particularly those persons who were in the area and witnessed the armed robbery or took note of the culprit in the area before the robbery occurred. Those persons with information regarding this matter are being asked to call 350-3107/8, 348-3444 or 911 to assist in bringing closure to the investigation.

Again, we (the Police) are encouraging residents NOT to keep large amount of cash home or at their place of business and AVOID making deposits or withdrawals at the bank after hours except where they have engaged security companies to assist them in their transactions in an effort to decrease being robbed or seriously injured.
