They have an awesome responsibility given the many pressing national challenges that must be dealt with urgently particularly the high unemployment rate, high serious crime rate, housing crisis, education and healthcare issues.In attempting to bring relief this government must give the best of their service, remain focused, accountable and transparent in its conduct of the people’s business.
PM Christie, as leader, must articulate his vision and plans to the Nation on a regular basis to ensure understanding and compliance of the populace.Improved public relations are crucial to this end.The Leadership must exhibit enhanced managerial skills, decisiveness, compassion, respect and intolerance of corruption. The people’s representatives must live the highest standards of morality and conduct during their terms in office, and demonstrate tolerance and respect for one another and those opposite.Also, they must avoid conflicts of interest in positions of trust, and beware of “wolves in sheep’s clothing”, both domestic and foreign, who will seek them out for their own selfish interests.
Good governance must be the mantra and goal of all.Adherence to these ideals will deepen our democracy and ensure that it remains healthy and vibrant.Parliamentarians must not forget, “the power of the people is greater than the people in power”. A word to the wise is sufficient. I wish the new Government well and God’s guidance as they attempt to rescue our beloved Nation. Newer news items:
