FREEPORT, Bahamas -- 77 people matched wits in the HSGB's first ever Quiz Night held at Redbeard's Saturday, May 12th!  Competing both individually and in teams, the competitors were challenged by a dazzling variety of trivia and general knowledge quiz questions in various categories.  In the relaxing and convivial atmosphere on the deck at Redbeard's, great food and drink was enjoyed in between and during the quiz rounds.

The questions included how many films in the Harry Potter Series...who is the founder and CEO of Facebook...what is the national currency of Egypt?  (See below for answers)

 The HSGB also held a pet sponsorship Raffle on the night - 50 shelter dogs and cats were sponsored for $10 each. 

The "sponsors" got to keep a photo of their sponsored pet, and at the end of the night a drawing was held.  The lucky winners were Kenton Pinder and Kyle Redman-Carroll who took home a fabulous gift basket containing Redbeard's and HSGB merchandise valued at $150!

The winners of the Pub Quiz were:

 1st - The "3 Must Have Beers" team with 25 points - prize $100 voucher from Redbeard's

2nd - The "Dobbie's" team with 24 points - prize $75 voucher from the Garden Cafe at the Garden of the Groves

3rd - The "Friday Night Prayer Group" team with 24 points - prize $25 Esthetics Day Spa voucher & $25 HSGB dog bath voucher

 The Dobbie's and The Friday Night Prayer Group had to answer a tie breaker question - How many people in the USA have the name James Bond ?  The Dobbie's answered 2349 and the Friday night prayer group answered 5000 the answer was ......106, thus the Dobbie's took second place.

 A total of $905 was raised for the deserving pets of the Humane Society shelter on Coral Road.  With many thanks owed to the following:  Beverley Dobinson, HSGB Board Member/Fundraising Chair who organized the event; Brian and Debby Botham of Redbeard's for hosting the event and providing prizes; Tiffany Dennison, HSGB President, MC and Quizmaster for the night who was heckled mercilessly and retained her composure (or gave back as good as she got) all in good fun!; prize sponsors the Garden Cafe, Esthetics Day Spa: HSGB Board members who attended and helped, Gloria McGlone, Beth Hatfield, Sissel Mosvold-Johnson, Michelle Lovatt, and Tara Pyfrom.
